Please post your 3 chosen genres for Project 3 with a brief explanation for each choice. Thanks!

  1. My first chosen genre is a survey and then displaying my results in an infographic. My project 3 is about the college campuses sustaining a rape culture through fraternities. I've decided to conduct a survey only with FSU students to see, relatively, how many students on campus have been sexually assaulted and to see how they handled the situation as well as where these sexual assaults have been taken place, on campus or off, and if they were sexually assaulted by fraternity members or not.

My second genre for project 3 is a video. I plan to interview FSU students in hopes of getting a candid response on what they believe is the definition of consent. Comparing the misconception of consent that students have compared to the actual definition is key in understanding why and how rape happens with college students and I think a video will convey the point and information across well and can be interpreted by many.

My third genre for project 3 is a pamphlet. With this pamphlet I want to provide statistics about the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses and information about resources that are available to students who have been sexually assaulted and options for handling the situation. There are multiple resources available for victims and the pamphlet will be a great tool where all this information is in one location, is accessible, and easy to interpret.

  2. 1) A website. This website will be collaborative and will allow for people to share a sense of community. An outlet for people to share their story and how food has impacted them. They will then share an old recipe of theirs and pictures if they feel the need to.

    2) A timeline. The timeline will be a visual to show how the food has changed from the beginning of the era in North America to what food now is. This will be beneficial for people to see my essay in a more visual format in which they can truly grasp how the roots of food in America haven't changed.

    3) An obituary. This will create a funny spin on my project. This will be an obituary for the "Three Sisters" and it will show how they are forever with us even though in a sense they seem dead in today's society. (This is a maybe)

    4) Create a flow chart. Take the three original foods corn, squash, and beans and show a picture of them back then compared to the recipes we use those foods in today to get a visual picture of how specific foods have been modified into the foods of today. Disguised, but not gone.

  3. 1. An ad. My topic is on Pablo Escobar and how he was looked up to by some of the townspeople. They called him the Robin Hood of Colombia. So I am going to make an ad poster of him with a Green hood and an arrow.

    2. Travel Brochure. I would create a brochure that would try to attract people to come to Colombia and visit.

    3. For sale poster. There will be a for sale sign that's selling a large portion of land for illegal business owners who want to start a company there.

  4. 1. A newspaper article: My topic since its based on some of the important social issues the 1960's I've decided to focus on one specific topic, maybe like the day the Civil Rights Act was approved.
    2. timeline: A visual, probably electronic, timeline that demonstrates and organizes many events in this confusing time period.
    3. video picture montage with music: Using music and pictures I can evoke some of the rebellious emotional sentiments of the time period.

  5. My first chosen genre is a pamphlet focused on the pollutants that have been found in the bodies of fish that eat micro pieces of plastic. My focus audience is someone in the waiting room of a hospital or clinic, like any other health brochure on display. I introduce the pollutants and how they could be getting into human bodies, then debrief each toxin separately, listing out the harmful effects they all have.

My second genre is going to be a poster/ info graphic encouraging my audience to be against single-use plastic bags. I want to incorporate reasons why single use bags are negative to the environment, and encourage people to use the reusable bags. I might also mention the benefits of taxing or banning these bags, and how this has worked out for other countries.

My third genre is going to be a newspaper article based around the number of marine wildlife deaths due to the consumption of or entanglement by plastic products. I intend to make it very dramatic, based from a time far in the future talking about the mass devastation due to an increase in plastic pollution. Basically taking the stance of someone from the future, predicting what will happen if humanity continues to trash the oceans.

  6. My first genre is going to be a video montage that shows footage of Japan prior to WWII, and after. I chose this to illustrate the difference in how everything looked, and how everything has changed in a lot of ways.

The second genre I chose is a timeline of important events that occurred in the last century of Japan, to better show what things had happened in order to change their society. I will probably use an electronic format to better engage the audience, as a normal timeline on a poster board may bore some people.

The third genre I have chosen is a brochure for Japan. This will include certain things you can do while in Japan if you're a tourist, and will give you basic information that will teach you more about the country as a whole.

  7. My first genre will be a tumblr blog that explores all aspects of my project. I will reblog and post things relevant to the multiverse theory, the mandela effect, and William James's theory of truth. In the end, I will link them all together. The blog will have both visual and written aspects.

My second genre will be a remade Berenstain Bears book. My topic deals heavily with the Mandela Effect and the confusion surrounding the spelling of the book's title, so a remade version might look at the multiverse theory and the idea that we have switched universes. It would be a more humorous remix on my essay.

My third genre will be a collage that mixes art that relates to the multiverse and memory with quotes that talk about James's theory of truth. It will be meant to show how all the aspects of my project tie in with each other.

  8. For my first genre, I want to do a website. Doing a website would be a good way to fit the immense amount of potential content that embodies my topic into a compressed version only highlighting valid information and events.

For the second genre, I am going to do a timeline. Because there has been so many significant events surrounding police brutality throughout the years, a timeline will provide a clear cut way to present that.

My last genre will be a newspaper article. Being that over the years my topic has made many headlines it is a suiting way to present and will hopefully make it very easy for the audience to follow because it is something that wont be a first.

  9. My first genre will be a short video that encapsulates my entire project in around 4 minutes.

My second genre will be a prezi depicting how 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by the united states government.

my third genre will be a news article about the assassination of JFK and how it was done by the CIA.

  10. Pamphlet - I think that a pamphlet would be beneficial to convey the meaning of my topic. I would model it to describe drug courts and their benefits, using the statistics that I wrote about in my paper. This would be an easy yet effective way to demonstrate information about drug courts and how they are helping society and those affected by addiction.
Magazine Cover - In my magazine cover I would advertise an “article” that would announce the release of the drug that is introducing the idea of finding out whether a person has an addiction to a substance. (N-allynorphor)
Blog - It would be a collection of stories of people who have overcome addiction and people who have experienced the drug court system and their methods of treatment.

  11. For my first genre I am going to do a Pamphlet on the NRA describing what it is and what they do in promoting the 2nd Amendment. The second genre I am going to do is make a poster about the 2nd Amendment and the development the creation of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. 13. My first genre will be a short video showing remixing the publicity of de extinction in 2013, Ted Talks, and speakers commenting on the aftermath. My second genre will be a pamphlet that goes more in depth with the procedures and statistics, and it will be made in the narrative of pro resurrection biology. The third genre will be a piece of artwork of an incomplete Woolly Mammoth made up of words, comments, and claims of what De-extinction can do. The largest quote will be from Beth Shapiro, saying that it is impossible to so such a thing.

  14. My first genre will be a timeline to display the entire Tom Brady suspension process in its day by day setup and how it unfolded. My second genre will be a pamphlet to briefly go into each section of my previous website on the changes in suspensions recently and its impacts on the game. My third genre choice would be a newspaper article format with information about how the game is being revolutionized and if this is a good or bad thing. Those are my three genre choices.

  15. Genre: Poem
I believe that transforming my paper about Shakespeare’s authorship into a poem would be very effective because he was a poet himself. Also, I believe that poetry is a great way to tell a story, so I would tell the story from the perspective of Shakespeare as if he knew that people didn’t believe that he was the author of his works. It would show his struggles with credibility and the middle verses would each discuss the different beliefs that people have on the authorship.

    Genre: Poster or Cartoon
I am kind of between these two genres. Posters can be very informational and, if organized well, nice to look at, but they can be boring. I got the idea of cartoon and I believe that it could be very visually appealing and entertaining. It would be sort of minimalist however, so not much information could be presented on it, but it will get its point across and be open to interpretation.

    Genre: Video
Since one of the genres must exist in a digital environment, I have been brainstorming different video ideas. One of the least-boring ideas I thought of was something sort of like “epic rap battles of history” and it would have Shakespeare vs. all of the main contenders of the authorship controversy. All of the “authors” would argue the main points of why people believe them to be the “real Shakespeare” and then Shakespeare would refute all of their points and state the case for himself.

  16. Character Map: I think a character map of the characters in Othello showing their hierarchical status would show the audience how the people in the play rank within one another and with that also how elements of dark and light play into the reasons for their status.
Movie Reviews: I would review multiple movies that unsuccessfully portray minorities and explain the downsides to this and the effect it plays into our view of minorities in society.
Pamphlet: This will be an informative pamphlet explaining what othering is and how it effects how we see things in the real world. I will provide examples. This will most likely be closest in comparison to my research paper but in a way that is simplified and flows informatively for the audience, and feels less scholarly but still informative.

  17. My first choice of genre will be an informative poster. This will include realistic pictures that catch people's eye and a few short facts or statistics regarding water pollution. Posters are an effective way of informing your community on important issues concerning them.

Next I will compose a short informative film, similar to the ones all over Facebook. I really appreciate these short films because you can learn a lot from them in just a short amount of time, and they do a very good job of conveying a message.

Finally I will bring in a prop of a water bottle filled with brownish looking water. It is a demonstration of what the people of Flint, Michigan's water looked like coming out of the faucet. When I see this it makes it very real, and scares me, which is the feelings I'm trying to convey to my audience.
